The video stream is only part of a live casino. Table rules, bet limits and connection policies determine the experience you’re actually choosing.
How to read this comparison
The table uses the supplied casino lineup. Placement is commercial, not a tested rating. Being listed does not establish a particular game, promotion, payment feature or NZ authorisation.
Operator buttons open affiliate tracking links in a new tab, and we may earn a commission. Check eligibility and the current terms before deciding whether to use a service. Read our review methodology for the evidence a recommendation needs.
Live dealer and virtual table games
A live dealer game streams a hosted table or game-show format. A virtual table game presents a software-based game without that live table stream. Both still require you to understand the rules, settlement and applicable payment conditions.
A polished studio, well-known presenter or crowded table is not proof of a favourable return. Identify the provider and exact game variant. Different tables under a single brand can use different rules and betting limits.
Compare the table before the lobby
| Game | Read first | Common point of confusion |
|---|---|---|
| Blackjack | Dealer rules, payouts, splitting and doubling | A familiar name can conceal a different ruleset |
| Roulette | Wheel type, zero pockets, special payouts | Side bets or multipliers are not standard wheel bets |
| Baccarat | Commission and treatment of ties | Player and banker labels do not identify who controls a hand |
| Game shows | Prize mechanics, multipliers and bet coverage | A high maximum prize does not mean a high chance of winning |
Avoid quoting a category-wide RTP as if it applies to every table. The provider’s rules for the exact game are the relevant starting point.
Check the real stake range
The displayed table minimum may apply to the main bet while side bets have separate minimums. Combining several positions can increase the cost of a round. Look at the full betting layout and the total stake confirmation.
In a hypothetical example, a NZ$5 main bet plus two NZ$2 side bets costs NZ$9 for that round. Planning a session around the NZ$5 label would understate the actual stake. This is arithmetic, not a recommendation to use side bets.
Live games and bonus contribution
Live dealer stakes may count at a lower rate towards wagering, or may be excluded. If a bonus requires NZ$4,000 in qualifying turnover and a permitted live game contributes 5%, completing the requirement only with that game would mathematically require NZ$80,000 in stakes.
This example shows why the contribution rate can outweigh the advertised bonus size. It does not estimate the likelihood of completion. Read the max-bet rule as well: exceeding it can affect the treatment of bonus winnings.
Streaming and disconnections
A stable connection helps the interface work, but interruptions can still occur. Read what happens if the video freezes after a bet is accepted, how an interrupted decision is handled and where you can inspect the settled round history.
On mobile, check whether the betting controls remain readable without zooming and whether the table fits around browser controls. Use the game’s own history to query a round rather than assuming that the video you saw reflects the final accepted bet.
Time, limits and breaks
Live tables can make it easy to move straight into another round. Set a time boundary before opening a table, and know how to exit and review your activity. A social atmosphere does not change the financial risk.
If you feel pressure to recover a loss or continue beyond your plan, leave the table. Our responsible gambling page explains practical support options in New Zealand.
How to join a live casino table: step by step
1. Check eligibility and account conditions
Read the current NZ position and the operator’s restrictions before creating an account. Confirm the account currency, verification requirements and available spending limits. A live-dealer lobby does not establish local authorisation.
2. Choose the exact game and table
Distinguish ordinary roulette or blackjack from a multiplier variant, game show or side-bet table. Read the rules for that table, its currency and the stake range. A provider can offer several tables with different limits and payouts.
3. Check bonus contribution before sitting down
The live lobby can be available even when its games are excluded from a promotion. Confirm the exact game’s contribution and any maximum stake. If the terms say zero contribution, live play will not clear the bonus regardless of time spent.
4. Review the bet before the timer closes
Check the total amount, including side bets, before confirming. A late click may not be accepted. The accepted bet record is more reliable than the animation or the amount you intended to place. Do not increase the next bet to compensate for a missed round.
5. Review settlement and leave when planned
Check the recorded result and balance after the round. If there is a mismatch or interruption, save the table and round identifiers for official support. Leave at the time or spending boundary you set before joining.
Live roulette, blackjack, baccarat and game shows
Live roulette
The wheel layout, payout schedule and treatment of special features determine the game maths. A single-zero wheel and a double-zero wheel are different games for comparison purposes. Multiplier versions may alter ordinary payouts to fund enhanced prizes. Read the complete paytable rather than applying the theoretical return of standard roulette to a modified version.
Live blackjack
Check deck count, dealer rules, blackjack payouts, doubling and splitting restrictions. Some tables offer shared seats or decision windows, so a displayed seat does not necessarily describe a conventional physical table. Side bets have separate rules and probabilities. A strategy chart is only relevant when its assumptions match the table.
Live baccarat and game shows
Baccarat bet types can differ in commission treatment and payouts. Game shows can combine wheels, bonus rounds and multipliers, each with its own qualifying rules. A game’s high maximum prize does not establish the expected return of every bet on the board. Avoid assuming that a familiar presenter or studio proves better odds.
Live dealers versus digital table games
| Element | Live dealer | Digital table game |
|---|---|---|
| Presentation | A streamed studio or venue with human dealing | A software presentation of the rules |
| Pace | Table timing and other participants can affect the pace | The interface may allow a different pace |
| Connection | Video and time-sensitive actions need a stable connection | Video streaming may not be involved |
| Rules | Table-specific stake limits and payout variants | Version-specific stake limits and payout variants |
| Evidence | Check the exact table and recorded rounds | Check the exact game version and recorded rounds |
Providers and availability
Evolution and Pragmatic Play Live are examples of live-game suppliers. A casino showing a provider’s logo does not confirm every table is available to an NZ account, at every hour or in every currency. Record the actual table name, operating hours and rules when making a specific comparison.
Language and accessibility
Check the language of both the game rules and customer support; a dealer’s language does not establish the language of the complaints team. Captions, readable bet controls and an accessible history screen matter on small displays. A pleasant stream is only one part of a usable live-casino experience.
Live casino bonuses: why 10% contribution changes the stakes
Work from the eligible turnover
Suppose a hypothetical NZ$100 bonus requires 35× bonus-only wagering. The qualifying requirement is NZ$3,500. At 10% contribution, live-table stakes would need to total NZ$35,000 to count as NZ$3,500. At zero contribution, no amount of play clears it. These examples explain the terms; they are not a recommendation to attempt the turnover.
A separate live package needs separate evidence
The supplied Gambiva screenshot contains a live package distinct from its slots and sports packages. Its original cap is in euros; a converted NZ-dollar estimate is not confirmation of local availability or the live package’s wagering conditions. Do not transfer slots-package terms to live play. Each promotion needs its own country, currency, game and expiry checks.
Lower table minimum does not mean lower total spend
If a table has a low minimum but completes many rounds, total exposure can still accumulate quickly. Compare the time available and intended total spending, not only the minimum chip. A bonus deadline should not determine how long you remain at a table.
Mobile live casino: connection failures, support and records
Before a session
Confirm that rules and the accepted bet amount are visible in portrait view. A reliable connection, charged device and readable controls matter more than high video resolution. Avoid a shared device that stores payment details or account access. Turn off distractions if they make it difficult to review a bet before the timer ends.
If the stream disconnects
Do not assume the bet was cancelled. Reopen the history and check the round status once the connection returns. The operator’s interruption rules determine how accepted bets are settled. Send support the table name, round reference, time and amount if the result is unclear; a frozen video does not prove a missing payment.
When a complaint is necessary
Keep the rules and correspondence relevant to that round. Ask for the game provider’s recorded outcome through the operator’s official process. If ordinary support cannot resolve the issue, use the formal complaints route. Our withdrawal guide covers a separate issue: getting an approved cash balance paid out.
If gambling is becoming difficult to control, pause and seek support. Free NZ help is available on 0800 654 655 or by texting 8006. You can ask about your own gambling or someone else’s. Our responsible gambling guide explains limits, breaks and self-exclusion.
A little more clarity.
Are live dealer games better value?
Not automatically. The rules and bet type determine the mathematical comparison; a live video does not remove the house edge.
Can live games count towards a bonus?
Sometimes, but the contribution may be reduced or zero. Check the specific promotion terms.
What if my connection drops?
The applicable game and operator rules determine settlement. Check accepted-bet history and use the official support route for a disputed round.
Does a real dealer make live casino games fairer than digital games?
A human dealer changes how a game is presented and conducted, but does not by itself establish a better return or a more reliable operator. Read the exact rules, payout schedule, supervision and complaint process for the table.
Will a disconnected live bet be refunded?
Not automatically. The operator’s interruption and settlement rules determine how an accepted bet is handled. Check the game history and record the table, round reference, time and stake before asking official support to investigate.
